Zosimo Cantiveros


Zosimo (Sime) Cañabano Cantiveros passed away peacefully on March 26, 2023 surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was predeceased by his father Gabriel, mother Isabel, brothers Rudolfo, Carlito, Ramon and sister Gabrielita.

Along with his wife Marlyn (Elon) and his two talented sons, Jacob and Alexander Lucas, he is survived by his brothers Paquito (Rosana), Edgar (Ligaya), Conrado (Melita), his sisters Angelina, Emelinda (Rogelio), Flordeliza, Nenita (Noel), as well as his brother in law Jun (Lani) and sisters in law Marites, Maricris (Pierre), Riz (Gerald), and Freda (Erick). Sime also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sime was born on March 11, 1964 in Lutopan, Cebu, Philippines. He graduated from Don Andres Soriano National High School and continued on to attend the University of Cebu where he received an associates in Merchant Marine Transportation. After spending some time on the seas traveling the world practicing his profession, he settled in Voorhees, NJ to raise his family.

Sime was known for his love of music, his ability to play any instrument he came across, and his witty sense of humor. He always was the life of the party and was known for his generosity, his kindness, and his welcoming nature. He was always proud of his work and loved to share how his consistent work ethic led him to become a Director of Environmental Services. Throughout various environmental service roles spanning 28 years, he received numerous awards for his exemplary service. From the Philippines to the United States, many of his colleagues turned into friends because of his inviting personality. He will be greatly missed by everyone he met.

Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Monday, April 3, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Platt Memorial Chapels, 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ. On Tuesday, April 4, 2023 everyone is invited for a second viewing at St. Andrews the Apostle Church, 27 Kresson-Gibbsboro Road, Gibbsboro, NJ from 10:00 am to 10:45 am. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 am at the church. Burial: Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
