Stanley Friedman

Stan Friedman, 90, of Moorestown, NJ passed away on November 4, 2022. Stan was married for 65 years to the late Phyllis Friedman, a longtime elementary school teacher. He was the father of Paul (Gloria Averbuch) Friedman, Karl (the late Yvonne) Friedman, David (Catherine) Friedman, Jennifer (Ron) Erickson, and the late Larry Friedman (Barbara). In addition to being the grandfather of Rebecca, Sam, Yael, Jessica, Jake, Elena, Shira, Ben, Micah, and Hannah, Stan is survived by 10 great grandchildren.
Born in Yonkers, NY, Stan grew up in New York City and graduated from City College of New York (CCNY), where he met Phyllis. A graduate of the ROTC program at CCNY, Stan served as an officer in the US Army from 1953-1955, after which he and Phyllis were married. Settling in NJ with Phyllis and their 5 children, Stan spent most of his business career working in the insurance industry, eventually founding an employee benefits firm known as RSI. Upon retiring from the insurance business in 1996, Stan pursued a lifelong dream of going to law school. He attended Rutgers Law School in Camden, NJ, graduating in 3 years and passing the NJ Bar exam on his first try. Law degree in hand, Stan opened a small law practice in Mt. Holly, working to assist those in need who had little means to pay for legal aid.
In 2002, Stan and Phyllis retired to Phoenix, AZ where he continued to use his skills to assist those in need, volunteering for the Legal Aid Society. In fact, in 2016, Stan was honored as the volunteer of the year by the Phoenix Bar Association. In 2019, Stan and Phyllis returned to Moorestown, NJ to be closer to family. Living at the Evergreens, Stan quickly became involved in a variety of activities and developed many friends. His wit, intellect, and selfless service will be missed by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to remember and celebrate the lives of Stan and Phyllis on Saturday, November 12, 2022, beginning at 10:15 at Platt Memorial Chapels, 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ.
