Philip Shapiro

HADDONFIELD - Philip Shapiro, 80, died after a six year battle with cancer on December 19, 2021, at Samaritan Hospital. He was born on May 3, 1941 in Philadelphia, the son of Morris and Mary (Sacks) Shapiro.

After two years in the US Navy, in 1965 Philip married the love of his life, Rosalie Tarnoff, and they settled in New Jersey. They celebrated 56 years of marriage in March 2021. Surviving in addition to his wife, Rosalie (Tarnoff) Shapiro, are his sons, David and his wife, Brooke and Jason and his wife, Roberta and five grandchildren, Steven, Matthew, Joseph, Molly, and Jacob.

Philip received his Bachelor of Science degree from Spring Garden College and his Master of Science degree from The Philadelphia College of Textiles & Science. He worked as a college professor and corporate trainer. Philip volunteered at The Kimmel Center in Philadelphia for many years. He also served on the board of The Friends of the Haddonfield Library. Philip’s favorite hobby was woodworking and he participated in many local arts and crafts shows.

A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22 at Platt Memorial Chapel, 2001 Haddonfield-Berlin Road, Cherry Hill. Those who wish to honor Philip may make gifts in his memory to Temple Emanuel, 1101 Springdale Road, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003.
