Leona Tanker
Leona Adele Tanker (née Kornblau) passed away on March 21, 2023 at age 92. A long time resident of Cherry Hill, Leona was born and raised in Atlantic City where her family owned the famous Kornblau’s Restaurant.
Leona had a long and exceptional life filled with the love of her family and friends, as well as many professional accomplishments. She worked for Camden County for 32 years and was the founder and director of the Camden County Work Investment Board, a ground breaking initiative between government and private industry to provide training and job support for Camden County residents. A congressional proclamation was issued by the United States Congress commending Leona for her work with the development and implementation of this program.
Leona is survived by her brother, Irwin Kornblau and four children, Mark (Marcy) Tanker, Joanne Tanker, Scott (Brenda) Tanker and Richard Tanker. In addition, Leona was blessed with five grandchildren, Adam (Shira) Tanker, Jason (Jamie) Tanker, Carly (Paul) McLandrich, Alex (Brittany) Tanker, and Sophie Tanker, as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited Sunday, March 26, 2023 beginning 11:00 am to PLATT MEMORIAL CHAPELS, Inc. 2001 Berlin Road, Cherry Hill, NJ where funeral services will begin promptly at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
