Herbert Rosenbluth
Herbert "Herb" Rosenbluth of Columbus, New Jersey, passed away on October 2, 2023, after a life of 100 years, leaving his spouse Rosalind "Roz," son Mark Rosenbluth (Joanne), daughter Diane Coughlan (Kevin), and son Joel, grandchildren Randy Coughlan and Kim Coughlan Frisch, and great grandchildren Navin and Senali Coughlan and Emily and Ben Frisch.
Herb was born in New York City in the Bronx. After graduation from DeWitt Clinton High School, in 1942 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and completed training to become a Fire Control 3rd class, serving first on a Destroyer and then the aircraft carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt, before returning to civilian life.
He subsequently entered Pace College in New York City, graduating in 1949 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. He soon joined the retail marketing company, Two Guys, moving to northern New Jersey. He rose to positions of higher responsibility with that company's successor, Vornado Realty Trust and retired in 1988.
Retirement from the corporate world and his children completing their education saw Herb entering a more relaxed life. He lived an active life, playing tennis and indulging in a favorite hobby, hiking in the New Jersey Pinelands with his wife, which led to frequent excursions with friends to European (and other) destinations on the trails. He was able to continue this activity well into his eighties, until finally being forced to slow down by age.
