Ellen Sandra Grumet, 80, of Medford, NJ, passed away on August 24, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She was born on September 18, 1942, in Manhattan to Nora and Milton Weisenholtz. A loving mother, sister, and grandmother, Ellen is survived by her husband of 44 years Herb, sister Marsha, and children Brian, Caren and Holly, stepchildren Lori and Marc, and grandchildren Jared, Lindsey, Nicolle, Amanda, Maya, Sarah, and Jordyn, sons-in-law, Daniel, Matthew and Bobby, and daughters-in-law, Elyse, and Joy.

Ellen loved to dance, had a great smile, and lit up a room when she entered. Her life centered around her children and grandchildren, and she adored being called Mom, Grammie, and Mimi. She enjoyed adventures with her hubby to St. Martin, Cape Cod, and the Berkshires, and various cruises to new destinations. Together they also enjoyed making friends through the Katz JCC Couples Club. Ellen also worked hard to support her and Herb's newly merged family. Ellen sold frozen food and television repairs over the phone convincingly and successfully for years until she stepped out of her comfort zone and sought a career in employee engagement and administration with financial consulting firms Morgan Stanley and Boston Consulting Group (BCG). She became "mom" to many who sought her out for kindness, support, advice and sometimes hugs. It continued even when she retired a decade ago, as her former colleagues still reached out often to seek her feedback and wisdom, sometimes on the phone for hours at a time. Herb joked with Ellen that they should put out a sign in front of the house stating, "Unlicensed Psychologist."

Relatives and friends are invited on Monday, August 28, as Ellen is laid to rest, graveside, at 1:30 PM at Park View Cemetery & Crematory at Kirby's Mill on 25 Fostertown Road, Medford, NJ 08055. There will not be a chapel service, just graveside.

Shiva will follow the service immediately at The Begun home until 8:00pm and continue Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm.

Contributions in Ellen’s memory can be made to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of America, Dementia Society of America, or Katz JCC.
