Edward Navlen

The Definition of Unconditional Love

Edward Navlen, the true definition of unconditional love, left this world at the age of 81 on Thursday, August 4, 2022, surrounded by family. Born March 18,1941 in New York City he spent his childhood living in the Bronx and his teenage years in New Rochelle, N.Y. Eddie, as he was known by those closest to him, attended Ryder College in Trenton, N.J. where he met the love of his life and forever soulmate, Saunee. Saunee and Eddie were married 58 beautiful years and resided in Fort Lee, N.J. with their two daughters, Dauna Kirschner and Elizabeth Navlen Gecewicz, for 42 years before moving permanently to Boca Raton, FL.

Edward led a very successful career in the Appliance and Electronics industry. As President and CEO of Trader Horn, for 30 years, he built a chain of 20 consumer retail stores. However, his true passion was for the people who helped him build and grow his business. He was a mentor and friend to so many employees throughout his career, many of whom ultimately became an extended part of the Navlen clan.

As a leader and original version of today’s ‘influencers’ in his industry, Edward also served as Vice President of the Nationwide Buying Group for 20 years. Later in life, he went on to run a second business in Florida, where his passion for helping those who helped him was emulated once again.

Beyond Edward’s career, his utmost greatest pride and joy was always his family. Those who knew him knew he would stop at nothing to make sure everyone was happy and healthy. His daily (x20) FaceTime calls and words of comfort, even in his final months, were reflective of his true character. His picturesque smile from ear to ear never once faded.

He loved spending winters in Florida and summers at the family’s home in the Jersey Shore with a houseful of people, especially his children and grandchildren. His passion for sports was long lived. Up until his passing, he listened to his beloved Yankees on his handheld radio (yes - radio) and watched the NY Giants every Sunday with his best friends, Linda and Donald.

Edward is predeceased by his parents, Helen and Charles ‘Chic’ Navlen and In-laws Evelyn and Harold Zenstein, whom he simply adored. He is survived by his wife, Saunee Navlen, and his two daughters, Dauna Kirschner and boyfriend Craig Sheingold, and Elizabeth Navlen and husband John Gecewicz. Edward also leaves behind and was the proud ‘Poppy’ to his four grandchildren: Jason Kirschner and his wife Alexandra Amico, Jordan Kirschner, Chloe Gecewicz and Luke Gecewicz.

A Graveside Memorial will be held on Tuesday, August 9 at 1PM at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y. The Navlen Family will sit Shiva in Margate N.J. on Wednesday, August 10 from 4PM-9PM and on Thursday, August 11 from 4PM-9PM.
