Ronald Jaffe, M.D.

Dr. Ronald Jaffe of Medford, NJ passed away July 18, 2023.

He was the husband of Charlotte Jaffe; father of Scott (Dana) Jaffe, Stephen (Lori) Jaffe, Peter (Jordan) Jaffe and Andrew (Fern) Jaffe; the brother of Dr. William Jaffe and the grandfather of Alex, Samantha, Ben, Kyle, Ryan, Connor, Zachary, Brooke, Avery, Danielle, Jacob and Caroline.

Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dr. Jaffe attended Central High School, Temple University, and Temple Medical School. He completed his residency at Hahnemann Medical College and Hospital. He then joined the medical staff of Hahnemann Medical School and later Jefferson Medical School. Ultimately, Dr. Jaffe and partner, Albert Tama opened a private practice in Pennsauken, New Jersey, eventually expanding to Cherry Hill, New Jersey.

Dr. Jaffe became Professor and Chief of the department of OBGYN at Cooper University Hospital in 1988, a position he held for twenty years. During this time, he quickly created a diverse and inclusive department and transformed the department into a major practice in the South Jersey area, expanding from five full time faculty members to 30. He was a true advocate for resident and medical student education. During his tutelage, many medical students went on to do their OB/GYN residencies at Cooper University Medical School

In addition, Dr. Jaffe was greatly involved in global health since the initiation of International Health Care Volunteers, sponsoring annual medical missions to Ghana, West Africa. He also served on the Board of Trustees of Cooper University Hospital from 2002-2005. Though his impact through international programs was profound, his true passion was assisting the underserved community of women in Camden, NJ. After he retired from seeing patients, Dr. Jaffe continued his commitment to furthering the education of so many medical students by teaching both in-person and virtually.

Perhaps Dr. Jaffe’s most important contribution to the world was the legacy he left through his family. He met his loving wife, Charlotte, during his senior year at Temple University. Together, they would go on to have four sons and twelve grandchildren. Three of their children are physicians living in Naples, Florida, and the fourth is an accomplished attorney and real estate developer in Moorestown, New Jersey.

Relatives and friends are invited Friday, July 21, 2023 beginning 9:30 AM to PLATT MEMORIAL CHAPELS, Inc. 2001 Berlin Rd. Cherry Hill, NJ where funeral services will begin promptly at 10:00 AM.
