Diane Bethea Steele

Diane Bethea Steele, formerly of Austin, TX, was born September 17, 1943, died on July 10, 2021 in Voorhees, NJ. During her 32 year teaching career, she taught thousands of children to love singing. She taught in Austin ISD at Webb 6th Grade Center, Pearce Jr. High, Cook Elementary and Baranoff Elementary. She was well-known for her excellent choirs and was chosen as the 1999 AISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. In 2003, she and her husband moved to Marlton, NJ. There she began giving piano lessons and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She loved entertaining, reading, scrapbooking, antiquing, and decorating. She is preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Kenneth Ray Steele and grandson Timothy Brian Steele. She is survived by her daughter Laurie Lausi, her husband Mike and their children, Justin, Sarah and Connor (Cherry Hill, NJ) and her son Brian Steele, his wife Renee and their children, Ben and Katie (Lubbock, TX); two sisters, Marjie B. Wood (Ponte Vedra Beach, FL) and Bobbie Arnold (Hernando, FL). On July 31, 2021 there will be a memorial service to celebrate her life. It will take place at 11:00 a.m at Trinity Presbyterian Church (499 Marlton Pike East, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034). Memorial gifts may be directed to the Armstrong Community Music School in Austin, TX. This fund allows for underserved children to receive free music lessons. It can be sent to: Armstrong Music School
