Bernard Ehrlich

Bernard (Bernie) Ehrlich, 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 22, 2020. His family was by his side prior to his passing.

Bernie was born in Philadelphia on October 24, 1926, to William and Gladys Ehrlich.

Bernie graduated from West Philadelphia High School and joined the Navy and served during World War II. He was stationed in Oahu, Hawaii near Pearl Harbor. After the war ended, Bernie attended Denver University majoring in Archaeology.

He was married to his beloved wife, Norma Ehrlich, for 61 years and they had three children, Judith (Kenneth) Sheppard, William Ehrlich, and Carol Rush, who they raised in Cherry Hill, NJ.

After the death of Bernie’s father, he took over his father’s auctioneer business. He then was a machinist for A.L Hyde Company in Grenlock, NJ for over 30 years. He loved his job and always lived by the mantra, “If you love what you do, you never work a day of your life!”

Throughout his life, Bernie enjoyed being with his family and friends. He loved basketball and football. He always looked forward to March Madness and always completed the chart for the Final Four College Basketball Championship. He loved the play,” The Man from La Mancha” and Country Music.

Bernie is survived by his wife, Norma; their children, Judith and husband Kenneth and their children, Jennifer, Christopher, and Ashley, William Ehrlich, Carol Rush, and her daughter Jessie Gant-Greenstein and her husband Nathaniel. Great-granddaughter, Penelope Sheppard.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Gladys Ehrlich; brother Maxim Ehrlich; and sister Jane Ehrlich Bredt.

Bernie will be forever in our hearts. At this time, the family will be having a virtual service and a video. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made in honor of Bernie to the American Lung Association,
