Charles Danenberg

Charles Danenberg - 86, of Cherry Hill, NJ, formerly of Margate, NJ and Boynton Beach, FL. passed away on November 2, 2019. He was born in Atlantic City and grew up in South Philadelphia. Beloved husband of Suzanne Danenberg and brother of the late Doris, Elaine, and Arthur.

He was a proud Veteran of the Korean War. Charlie met Sue at a synagogue dance in 1955 in Philadelphia, after returning from serving in Korea. The pair took a trip down to Atlantic City for their first date, which blossomed into a beautiful and loving marriage for 62 more years. Together, they had three wonderful daughters; Debra (Paul) Alper, Nadine (Scott) Downie, and Carol Danenberg.

After the war, Charlie attended the Wharton School of Business at University of Pennsylvania and served as the CFO of Spencer Gifts for 25 years until his retirement. Charlie was a member and Treasurer of the Margate Fishing Pier for over 30 years. He was also a member and Treasurer of Beth El Synagogue and was involved in the Men’s Club. He loved to travel with his wife Suzanne, playing golf, fishing and spending time with his family. He was an avid and lifelong Philadelphia sports fan.

Charlie and Sue’s dream was to retire to sunny south Florida, and share their piece of paradise with their children and grandchildren; Rachel (Graham), Steven (Liz), Sara and Leah. They achieved their dream starting in 1983 and continued enjoying Florida through 2014.

Their other favorite pastimes included going to the theater and cruising. The most memorable places they traveled were Italy and the Caribbean.

Charlie was fun-loving with a happy-go-lucky spirit, who was loved and adored by everyone he met. Never failing to make a lasting impression, he lit up every room with his jokes, and always offered a helping hand with a smile and kind words.

Relatives and friends are invited to graveside services Mon. beginning 2:00 PM at Beth Kehillah Cemetery, Egg Harbor Twp., NJ. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org or any charity that benefits veterans. PLATT MEMORIAL CHAPELS Cherry Hill, NJ 800-262-9442
