Ray Richter

July 9, 2018

Ray was born in 1931 in the Bronx NY, the daughter of Jack and Fannie Eliash, immigrants from Russia and Poland. A talented fine artist, Ray attended Washington Irving High School in Manhattan, where she majored in dress design. Her artistic skills have been admired for decades. She was pre-deceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Israel. She will be sorely missed by her daughters Marlene Penn and Gale Richter, son-in-law Art Penn and her brother-in-law MIlton Richter. She is also survived by her adored grandchildren Jaclyn Gross, Nathan Penn, Emily Penn and her husband Michael Demeo. Ray was crazy about her step-grandchildren Faith and Gary Jaeger and Melissa Penn and Adam Stengel. She felt as though she won a bonus prize with their children Jessica, Skylar, Zak, Hope, Mikey, Shao Shao and Brody who always called her Grandma Ray. Ray's unique wit and practical wisdom will be missed by all. There will be a graveside service at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 12 at King Solomon Cemetary, Clifton, N.J. Shiva will be observed at the home of Marlene and Arthur Penn on Sunday July 15, from 12:00 to 5:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to express their sympathy for Ray Richter may make donations in her honor to Rider University where funds will be allocated for students with disabilities. Both The Jonas Richter Penn Technology and Proctoring Room and The Jonas Richter Penn Study Room at Rider are named in memory of Ray's grandson, Jonas a former student at the University. Donations may be made to:
